I filmed a video last week sharing how easily a white-collar offender can violate his term of federal probation. The reality is many offenders will serve longer on probation then they did in prison. Not understanding the complexities of federal probation, can bring lasting pain, and even return you to prison. This case stemmed from a gentlemen wanting to keep his tax return, rather than turn it over to help pay his criminal restitution. On our call he told me he felt he had paid his debt to society and that turning over money that he needed was unjust. Like many of the people in prison, he failed to consider how his actions would influence his longer term plans. Instead, he is preparing for a court hearing where his lawyer will ask the federal judge not to send him back to federal prison.
If you have interest in a different outcome on probation, watch this video.
Best,
