Psychology/Counseling Services

The Psychology Services Department is staffed by psychologists, technicians, and treatment specialists. The institution offers a 500-hour Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), a non-residential drug treatment program (NRDAP), a drug education program, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, self-image groups, individual counseling, group psychotherapy, anger management, and other voluntary groups.

Health Services

The facility has an Assistant Health Service Administrator, Dental Officer, and Medical Officer overseeing medical and dental care. Outpatient care is provided on-site. Sick call and dental sick call are held on posted days and times; routine sick call is not held on weekends and holidays. Appointments for routine medical and dental care are issued at the triage area in the Health Services Department. Prescriptions are dispensed daily within Health Services during posted pill line times. Reporting to assigned pill line times is mandatory, though persons may choose to refuse medication. At least one physician assistant is on duty or on call 24 hours a day. Persons under the age of 50 are entitled to a routine physical examination every two years, while those over 50 are entitled to an exam annually.

Fitness & Recreation

The Recreation Department offers team sports (softball, soccer, volleyball, basketball), indoor and outdoor weights, a track, pool tables, and handball/racquetball courts. Athletic leagues are available. The recreation yard and gymnasium are typically open Monday through Friday from 6:00 to 10:30 AM, 10:45 AM to 3:30 PM, and 4:30 to 8:15 PM; weekends and holidays from 6:00 to 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and 4:30 to 8:15 PM. The gymnasium and inside weight room have limited hours from May through September. The leisure room contains a band room, listening room, two art rooms, and outdoor card tables, open daily from 12:30 to 3:00 PM and 4:30 to 7:30 PM. The hobby craft center offers a wide variety of arts and crafts. Instructional music classes are available in guitar, bass guitar, piano, vocals, and music theory, along with open instrument use.

Religious Services

Chaplains of various faiths are available for pastoral care, counseling, and other professional services. Volunteers offer additional programs and services. The Religious Services schedule is posted in the Chapel display case and in the housing units. Special religious diets, holiday observances, and other worship activities are coordinated through the chaplain's office.
