Where is the Sentencing Memorandum?

Here’s a sample of some text messages I’ve received this month, with modest editing to remove swear words and personal details. These are the kinds of challenges we’ll break down during Monday’s webinar at 1 PM PT:

  • “That was fun. $700K down the drain only to get a plea that got worse over time. Now I have three days to take it or they said I can go to trial. I wish I found this video ‘Is your lawyer an order taker for AUSA?’ earlier. Merry Christmas, feds ruined mine.”
  • “Unreal, man. I never brought up the $400K, and I wanted to. But they did. You were all right, but it was so hard!!”
  • “Case manager threw my plan in the garbage. I’m done. What’s the point?”
  • “I didn’t really want to go, but I asked, and Mr. Shaw said, ‘Okay, have a good trip.” Off to the Bahamas!!’”
  • “My wife makes the $ not me, yet he keeps pushing me for more restitution. Is that normal?”
  • “I just learned I paid a lawyer a trial rate only to find out the times he won at trial were when he was a government attorney. Am I done or what? U look older since having kids.”
  • A voice message: “We all know Santos didn’t do 24 years in prison. I give it 5 tops. Prove me wrong!”
  • “My lawyer is taking credit but I do not care. All that matters is it worked. Forget transparency, incognito is the way to go.”
  • And more, including, “why have a law that lets people get out through FSA (first step act) or 12 months in a halfway house but no one gets it?”
  • “Won’t share a sentencing memorandum. Concerning?”
  • “She pinned my talent profile. Odd yet satisfying.”

These are real messages from people navigating their cases. Some are trying to fix their mistakes; others are stumbling through preventable errors. This webinar will cover what works, what doesn’t, and how to set yourself up for the best possible outcome.

We host this webinar to prepare you for challenges like these. There’s no better way to learn than through live case studies—or, in this case, text messages.

Reserve your spot for Monday at 1 PM PT.

Best,

Justin Paperny
