Phone Policy

You get 300 minutes per validation cycle. Calls end after 15 minutes with a 30-minute wait between calls. Phone hours are 6:00 AM–11:30 PM. Access is limited weekdays (not holidays) during 7:30–10:30 AM and 12:30 PM until after the 4:00 PM count. You can have 30 numbers on your phone list and update it once per month. The system uses a Personal Access Code (PAC) with TRUFONE and collect call capabilities.

Psychology/Counseling Services

Mental health care includes screening, assessment, and treatment of mental health or substance abuse concerns. Individual and group counseling, psycho-educational classes, self-help resources, and supportive services are available. Mental health services also address drug and alcohol abuse, suicide prevention, and other behavioral or emotional challenges. Referrals to Health Services for medical treatment of mental illness can be arranged when appropriate.

Health Services

Routine physical examinations may be requested every two years by people under the age of 50, and annually by those 50 and older. A pre-release physical may also be requested prior to release from the federal system. For people over 50, physicals include an electrocardiogram, tonometry, and a rectal exam with a hemoccult test. Emergency medical care is available 24 hours a day, with clinical staff covering day and evening shifts and community emergency personnel responding when clinical staff are not on-site. Services include sick call for new or recurring medical or dental symptoms, chronic care clinics for ongoing and infectious diseases, routine dental care, emergency care for injuries and sudden illness, age-appropriate preventive care, restorative care, and long-term and end-of-life care.

Fitness & Recreation

The Recreation Department offers wellness programs and leisure programs including organized sports, informal games, physical fitness, table games, hobby crafts, music programs, intramural activities, social and cultural organizations, and movies.

Religious Services

Chaplains offer religious worship, education, counseling, spiritual direction, support, and crisis intervention to meet diverse religious needs. The religious diet program, ceremonial religious meals, and religious holiday observances are all coordinated through the chaplains. Every person has the right to freedom of religion and voluntary religious worship.
