A full range of mental health services is available, including acute crisis intervention, treatment of mental illness, suicide prevention, psychological evaluations, brief counseling, psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, and individual psychotherapy. A contract psychiatrist is available by appointment for medication consultations. The facility offers a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) coordinating long-term residential treatment, a non-residential group, and a 40-hour drug education group. Alcoholics Anonymous and various counseling groups are also available. All clinicians are trained in issues significant to the population served.
The facility is staffed by physicians, physician assistants, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists. Each person is assigned to a Primary Care Provider and a Physician under a managed health care system. Outpatient and limited infirmary care are provided. Tallahassee Memorial and Tallahassee Community Hospital are both approximately five minutes away. Sick call is held Monday through Friday (except Wednesdays and holidays) from 6:30 to 7:00 AM. Pill line and prescription pick-up hours are posted outside the pharmacy. Female persons between ages 35 and 40 are offered an elective initial mammography, and those under 35 with a family history of breast cancer may request a baseline mammography through routine sick call. Emergency medical care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Leisure activities and recreation programs are supervised by the education department. Programs include indoor and outdoor activities, ranging from individualized arts and crafts to intramural team sports such as softball, basketball, and volleyball.
A wide range of religious programs are available. Chaplains of specific faiths are on staff, with contract and volunteer representatives of other faiths also available.
