The Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) is a comprehensive treatment program that can reduce sentences by up to 12 months for eligible participants. Below are camps and low-security facilities offering this program.

You must have a verifiable substance use disorder, at least 24 months remaining on your sentence when you begin the program, and be free of certain disqualifying offenses. A pre-sentence report often documents substance abuse history.

How much time can RDAP reduce?

Eligible participants can receive up to 12 months off their sentence. The actual reduction depends on the length of your sentence and other factors.

Can I request a specific RDAP facility?

While you can request a facility, the BOP makes final placement decisions based on bed availability, security level, and proximity to your release residence.

What if my facility's RDAP is suspended?

If a facility's RDAP is suspended, you may be transferred to another facility with an active program. Work with your case manager to explore options.
